Newark (Newark Electronics / "Newark, an Avnet Company") is a North American electronic-components distributor founded in 1934 as Newark Electric, a Chicago radio-parts shop. It is headquartered at 300 S. Riverside Plaza, Chicago, and serves North America plus parts of Central and South America. Newark is the Americas division of Farnell Global, which trades as Farnell in EMEA/Japan and element14 in Asia-Pacific. Farnell Global has been part of Avnet, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVT) since Avnet acquired parent Premier Farnell in 2016, and remains a subsidiary. Wikipedia/DBpedia lists roughly 1,500 employees; third-party business directories place it in the 1,001–5,000 employee band with revenue estimated in the low hundreds of millions of dollars—figures we could not confirm from Avnet filings, which do not break out Newark separately.
