Mercedes-Benz AG is a German multinational automotive company headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany. It operates as a subsidiary of the publicly-traded parent company, Mercedes-Benz Group AG (FWB: MBG), which was formed in its modern iteration in 1926 through the merger of Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft and Benz & Cie. The Mercedes-Benz Group reported revenues of €132.2 billion in 2025 and employed approximately 164,000 people.

As a major global operating company, Mercedes-Benz develops, manufactures, and sells a wide range of premium and luxury passenger cars and vans. Its passenger car brands include Mercedes-Benz, the performance-focused Mercedes-AMG, the ultra-luxury Mercedes-Maybach, and the all-electric Mercedes-EQ sub-brand. The single tracked case is Mimzi, LLC v. Mercedes-Benz AG. The plaintiff, Mimzi, LLC, is a non-practicing entity (NPE) that has also filed suits against other automakers, including Ford, Nissan, and Hyundai, asserting patents related to voice interaction and speech recognition technology. Patent-risk mitigation firm Unified Patents has challenged at least one patent asserted by Mimzi.
