TTE Corporation traces back to TCL–Thomson Electronics Corporation, the global TV joint venture formed in Shenzhen in July 2004 between TCL International Holdings (67%) and France's Thomson S.A. (33%), at the time the world's largest TV maker by volume (marketing TCL, THOMSON, and RCA sets by region). Today, per TCL Electronics Holdings Limited's (HKEX: 1070) regulatory filings, TTE Corporation is a direct, wholly owned subsidiary of TCL Electronics, the listed display/home-entertainment arm of China's TCL Group; it is commonly named simply "TTE" or "TTE Corp."
Operations. TTE Corporation is an operating entity within TCL's TV business, used as the vehicle for global home-entertainment transactions. In March–May 2026, TCL Electronics announced that TTE Corporation would take 51% of a new joint venture absorbing Sony's home-entertainment business (BRAVIA TVs, displays, projectors, home audio) and acquire Sony's Malaysian manufacturing unit SOEM, closing expected 2027. Standalone revenue or headcount for TTE is not publicly reported; its parent TCL Electronics is a Hong Kong-listed company (market cap roughly HK$32 billion, or ~US$4 billion, in early 2026 press reports). Historically, the 2004-era JV reported ~29,000 employees.
Litigation posture. Our database shows TTE Corporation in one tracked case, solely as a defendant (0 plaintiff cases): VideoLabs, Inc. v. TCL Technology Group Corporation et al. (No. 2:25-cv-00161), filed February 10, 2025, in the Eastern District of Texas (Marshall Division, Judge Gilstrap). TTE Corporation was one of about 13 related "TCL Defendants" sued together, placing it squarely in the operating-company-defending-against-NPE category.
Notable context. The plaintiff, VideoLabs Inc., is an NPE/patent collective (classified as a patent assertion entity by Unified Patents) that has also sued Netflix, Dell, and others. Its complaint accused TCL smart TVs, projectors, phones, and tablets of infringing H.264 video-coding, portable-terminal, and media-server patents. The case was dismissed with prejudice in November 2025 per the docket. TTE entities have also been named respondents in ITC Section 337 investigations alongside TCL companies.
