Company Profile: Qingdao Hisense Electronics Industry Holdings Co., Ltd.
Overview. Qingdao Hisense Electronics Industry Holdings Co., Ltd. (Chinese: 青岛海信电子产业控股股份有限公司; also known as "Hisense Electronics Holdings") is a privately held holding company incorporated on May 1, 2001, and headquartered at 218 Qianwangang Road, Qingdao Economic & Technological Development Zone, Shandong, China. It was founded by state-owned Hisense Group Co., Ltd. together with company executives as the Hisense Group's employee-equity-incentive platform and, after a 2020 mixed-ownership reform, has no controlling shareholder (Hisense Group holds ~26.8%; employee incentive holders ~46%). In January 2021 it was renamed Hisense Group Holdings Co., Ltd. It directly controls listed Hisense Visual Technology Co., Ltd. (SH 600060) and indirectly controls Hisense Home Appliances Group (SZ 000921/HK 0921). Its parent Hisense Group reports 100,000+ employees and 2024 revenue of ~RMB 215.3 billion (group level); this entity's own financials are not separately published.
Operations. It is a capital-management and investment holding company — the intermediate owner of Hisense's operating businesses. Its registered scope covers capital operation, investment, and, through subsidiaries, R&D and manufacturing/sales of consumer electronics and home appliances (smart TVs, laser TVs, air conditioners, refrigerators), communications and network equipment, automotive parts and intelligent cockpit devices, IoT devices, and software. It is not an NPE; it is an operating group's holding entity.
Litigation posture. Purely defensive: 3 tracked cases, all as defendant, none as plaintiff. All three were brought by Flexiworld Technologies, Inc., an Oregon-based non-practicing entity that the Stanford NPE Litigation Database lists as asserting acquired patents. One suit (filed June 24, 2022) was in the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division (Judge Gilstrap), a plaintiff-favored venue; the other two were filed October 31, 2022, in the Northern District of Georgia.
Notable context. The company was one of eleven Hisense affiliates named in Flexiworld's campaign alleging that Hisense smart TVs (Android TV, Google TV, Roku TV, X Class TV, Smart Laser TV), soundbars, and the RemoteNow app infringe wireless-connectivity and content-output patents (e.g., US 7,609,402; 10,140,073; 10,387,087; 10,768,871; 11,096,056). The complaint described it as operating "in agency with the Hisense Group" in the U.S. distribution channel. The cases settled before claim construction; terms were undisclosed.
