HTC America

HTC America, Inc. is the U.S. operating subsidiary of HTC Corporation (TWSE: 2498), the Taiwanese consumer-electronics maker founded in 1997 and headquartered in New Taipei City. HTC America is a Washington corporation with offices at 13920 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, Washington, held indirectly through HTC America Holding Inc.; it is wholly owned by HTC Corporation. HTC Corporation is publicly listed in Taipei (market cap roughly NT$38 billion in mid-2026 third-party data) and reported consolidated FY2025 revenue of about NT$2.9 billion; third-party sources list the parent at roughly 3,900 employees. HTC America's own headcount and revenue are not separately disclosed, so no verified figure is available.

The parent designs and sells smartphones, VIVE virtual- and mixed-reality hardware (VIVE Focus Vision, Focus 3), VIVE Eagle AI smart glasses, the VIVERSE immersive platform, location-based-entertainment software, and G REIGNS private 5G products, with growing emphasis on enterprise XR. During the period reflected in the case data below, HTC America managed U.S. sales, marketing, and product support for smartphones such as the HTC One M9, HTC 10, and U11. HTC's hardware businesses have narrowed substantially: Google paid US$1.1 billion in 2017–18 for a large part of HTC's smartphone engineering team and IP rights, and US$250 million in Q1 2025 for part of its XR R&D team plus a non-exclusive XR IP license.

Local Intelligence asserted three patents (U.S. 8,903,067; 9,219,982; 9,084,084) on automatically refreshing a phone display based on location and user behavior, accusing HTC Sense-equipped phones. Local Intelligence is an affiliate of Monument Patent Holdings, LLC — described by RPX as an NPE that acquired its patents from TP Lab, Inc. and also sued Samsung and LG — so this is standard NPE assertion against an operating defendant.
