Company overview. Savant Technologies LLC, doing business as "GE Lighting, a Savant company," is the legal entity that operates the former General Electric lighting business. Headquartered at NELA Park in East Cleveland, Ohio, it is a wholly owned subsidiary of privately held Savant Systems Inc. (Hyannis, MA; founded 2005), which acquired the business from GE in mid-2020 for roughly $250 million, including a long-term license to the GE brand. At acquisition the unit had about 700 employees; Savant is not publicly traded and does not disclose GE Lighting revenue separately (GE had folded lighting into corporate revenues before the sale). Bloomberg, CNET, and the Boston Globe corroborate the deal and headcount; no current revenue figure is publicly verified.
Products / services / operations. Savant Technologies designs and sells residential and commercial lighting: LED and filament bulbs, light strips, switches, plugs, sensors, and fixtures sold through retailers such as Home Depot and Lowe's, plus the "C by GE" connected smart-home lighting line. It also serves commercial, industrial, and municipal applications. It is a genuine operating company, not a patent-holding shell.
Patent-litigation posture. An operating company engaged in a defensive, two-way dispute with a competitor. Its one tracked appearance is as petitioner (listed as plaintiff) at the PTAB: Savant Technologies LLC d/b/a GE Lighting et al. v. Feit Electric Company, Inc. (IPR2024-01357, filed Aug. 26, 2024). Context from PTAB records shows this IPR is a countermeasure: Feit first sued Savant for infringement of U.S. Patent No. 8,604,678 in N.D. Ohio (Feit v. Savant, 1:24-cv-473), with parallel Feit suits against LEDVANCE (E.D. Ky.) and Elong/Longstar (N.D. Tex.). Savant has zero defendant-case appearances in the tracked database only because the IPR petition is its defensive filing.
Notable context. The dispute centers on Feit's white-filament LED patent; Savant joined LEDVANCE, Elong International, and Xiamen Longstar as co-petitioners in related IPRs (IPR2025-00260, IPR2025-00698), which the PTAB instituted. The N.D. Ohio case was stayed pending the IPR. This is a conventional operating-company patent dispute in the competitive LED lighting market, not NPE litigation.
