Company profile

Company overview. Eagle View Technologies, Inc. (commonly "EagleView") is a privately held aerial-imagery and property-analytics company founded in 2008 by Chris Pershing and Dave Carlson. Sources differ on its corporate address: it is based in the Seattle area (Bothell/Bellevue, Washington) with major operations in Rochester, New York. It merged with Pictometry International Corp. in 2013 and was acquired by Vista Equity Partners in 2015; Clearlake Capital and Morgan Stanley Capital Partners are additional private-equity owners. Headcount is roughly 1,000–1,300; revenue is not publicly disclosed but third-party estimates place it above $100 million.

Products / operations. EagleView is an operating company, not an NPE. It pioneered software-generated 3D aerial roof measurements and sells measurement reports, high-resolution oblique/orthogonal aerial imagery (the Pictometry library), wall-measurement reports, and property-data analytics to roofing contractors, insurance carriers, solar installers, utilities, and government agencies. Known product lines include roof and wall measurement reports, QuickSquares, SunSite solar reports, and EagleView Assess drone-based inspections. The company holds hundreds of patents, mostly on aerial image capture, photogrammetric roof estimation, and 3D building modeling.

Patent-litigation posture. EagleView is an active two-way litigant: plaintiff in two tracked district-court cases and defendant in two PTAB proceedings, all brought by direct competitors. It asserts its own product-practicing portfolio rather than an acquired one, and it defends that portfolio against inter partes review. Tracked venues are the District of New Jersey, the District of Utah, and the PTAB — not typically plaintiff-friendly Eastern District of Texas.

Notable cases. In Eagle View v. Xactware Solutions/Verisk (D.N.J., filed 2015), a jury found willful infringement and awarded $125 million (2019); the court later trebled damages to $375 million and added fees (2021). Verisk had abandoned a $650 million acquisition of EagleView in 2014 after FTC antitrust objections. Xactware's related IPR campaign largely failed. In Eagle View et al. v. Nearmap US (D. Utah, filed 2021), EagleView and Pictometry asserted eight aerial-measurement patents; the case was stayed in 2025 pending PTAB and Federal Circuit proceedings, where outcomes have been mixed (Nearmap IPRs denied institution in 2024, but the Federal Circuit affirmed PTAB obviousness rulings against two EagleView patents in February 2026). The parties settled the Xactware dispute in November 2021 with EagleView's patents affirmed.
