Tiffany A. Miller

Tiffany A. Miller is a seasoned intellectual property litigator at Mayer Brown, specializing in complex patent disputes across various federal district courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). Her practice focuses on a broad range of technologies, including smartphones, mobile and wireless devices, smart televisions, computing devices, gaming consoles, hard disk drives, semiconductor integrated circuits, and automobile components. She also advises clients on freedom to operate and standards-essential patent (SEP) portfolios.

Miller primarily represents patent holders, with four of her five tracked appearances on the plaintiff side. Notably, she was part of the Mayer Brown trial team that secured a significant victory for Pantech Corporation and Pantech Wireless, LLC against OnePlus Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. in the Eastern District of Texas. In that case, a jury found willful infringement of five wireless communication and user interface patents, awarding substantial damages to Pantech. This case is currently pending appeal before the Federal Circuit. Her experience also includes representing Maxell, Ltd. in patent infringement litigation against Lenovo Group Ltd. and Motorola Mobility LLC. While primarily plaintiff-side, she has also represented defendants, including HP Inc. in a wireless communication systems patent suit where a jury's damages award was significantly reduced, and Qualcomm as a plaintiff in a cellular communications case that settled favorably.

Before joining Mayer Brown, Miller was a partner at DLA Piper, where her practice similarly included district court litigations, ITC investigations, and post-grant review proceedings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Her experience with post-grant challenges includes representing ResMed in matters involving sleep apnea treatment devices and ventilators.

Miller earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and her B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia, as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and several U.S. District Courts, including the Eastern District of Virginia, the Eastern District of Texas, and the Central District of California. She is also admitted to the California bar and registered to practice before the USPTO.
