Adam Pan

Adam Pan is a patent litigation attorney with a strong focus on the life sciences sector, particularly in pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent disputes. His practice primarily involves complex litigation under the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act (BPCIA) and Hatch-Waxman Act, representing innovators in the enforcement of their intellectual property. He also has experience with technology-related patent matters.

Based on his seven tracked case appearances, Mr. Pan predominantly represents plaintiffs, having appeared on the plaintiff side in six cases. His work includes significant engagements for Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. in disputes against biosimilar and generic manufacturers such as Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc., Celltrion, Inc., Amgen Inc., Sandoz Inc., and Formycon AG, concerning products like Regeneron's vision-saving biologic, Eylea®. Williams & Connolly, his current firm, secured a first-of-its-kind trial victory for Regeneron in BPCIA litigation, and he was counsel in Federal Circuit appeals for Regeneron against Amgen and Formycon. He also has experience on the defense side, representing Google LLC in a case while at Keker, Van Nest & Peters.

Mr. Pan is currently an Associate at Williams & Connolly LLP. The firm has a robust patent litigation practice with extensive experience in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings, particularly in conjunction with district court litigation in Hatch-Waxman cases. Given his focus on pharmaceutical patent litigation, it is likely he has exposure to PTAB and IPR proceedings through his firm's comprehensive practice.

He earned his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he served as Co-Editor-in-Chief for both the Yale Journal of Health Policy, Law, and Ethics and the Yale Journal of Law and Technology. Prior to law school, he obtained a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for research on computational X-ray phase contrast imaging of human atherosclerotic disease, providing a strong scientific foundation for his practice. He also clerked for Judge Timothy B. Dyk of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and California.
