Spansion LLC

Spansion LLC was the operating legal entity of Spansion Inc., a flash-memory and embedded-systems semiconductor company headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. The business traces to a 1993 flash-memory joint venture (FASL LLC) between AMD and Fujitsu; it became Spansion LLC in 2004 and was spun off as independent, publicly traded Spansion Inc. in December 2005 (NYSE: CODE). Wikipedia and press reports put it at roughly 3,700 employees in 2014 and annual revenue near $1.25–1.3 billion (2013–2014). It is no longer independent: Cypress Semiconductor acquired Spansion in an all-stock merger completed March 12, 2015, and Cypress was acquired by Germany's Infineon Technologies in 2020.

Products/operations: Spansion designed and manufactured NOR and NAND flash memory (including MirrorBit and the HyperFlash/HyperBus interface), plus microcontrollers and analog/mixed-signal and power-management ICs added via its 2013 purchase of Fujitsu's MCU and analog business. Its chips targeted embedded, automotive, industrial, networking, and consumer applications. It operated a wafer fab in Austin, Texas, and assembly/test in Bangkok, Thailand.
