Spansion (Thailand) Limited

Spansion (Thailand) Limited ("Spansion Thailand") is the Thailand back-end manufacturing subsidiary of Spansion Inc., the NOR flash memory maker created from the AMD–Fujitsu flash joint venture (FASL LLC) and spun off as a Nasdaq-listed company in December 2005. Its plant at 229 Moo 4 Changwattana Road, Pakkred, Nonthaburi was established in 1990, originally as AMD Thailand Co., Ltd., adopting the Spansion name in July 2003. Ownership passed to Cypress Semiconductor Corp. when the Cypress–Spansion merger closed in March 2015, then to Infineon Technologies AG, which acquired Cypress in 2020. Reported headcount was about 877 (May 2011); no standalone revenue is disclosed.

The site is a semiconductor assembly, test, marking and packaging operation — Spansion's largest back-end plant — for NOR flash and other memory devices in TSOP, BGA, SOIC and MCP packages, with capacity near 9–10 million units per week and ISO 9001 / TS 16949 / ISO 14001 certification. It ran as "Cypress Bangkok" after 2015, assembling automotive-grade parts. In 2025–26 Infineon sold the Nonthaburi back-end operation to Malaysian Pacific Industries Berhad for ~US$77.9m, and it was renamed Carsem Semiconductor (Bangkok) Ltd; that reporting names the sold entity Infineon Technologies (Thailand) Limited, so exact mapping to "Spansion (Thailand) Limited" is unconfirmed.

Litigation posture is that of an operating company, not an NPE: both tracked appearances are as plaintiff, before the PTAB's Tech Center 2800 (semiconductors), with no defendant-side cases. Spansion was a two-way flash-memory litigant — asserting its own patents against Samsung (ITC 337-TA-735, 2010) and Macronix (ITC 337-TA-893; N.D. Cal. 3:13-cv-03566, both 2013) while Macronix filed inter partes reviews against Spansion patents. No tracked case is in the Eastern District of Texas; the parallel district suits were in N.D. Cal. and E.D. Va.

The two tracked matters, filed 21 July 2014 as Spansion, Inc. et al. v. Macronix International Co., Ltd., are the PTAB strand of the Spansion–Macronix dispute over flash-memory patents including U.S. 6,459,625; 6,900,124; 7,018,922; 7,151,027 and 6,731,536; the parties settled in early 2015. The Thai subsidiary appears only as a co-named affiliate of the Spansion parent.
