Company profile

Humatics Corp. (Humatics Corporation) is a privately held, venture-backed technology company founded in 2015 by MIT professor David Mindell and Gary Cohen. It is headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts (previously Cambridge/Kendall Square). Investors include Tenfore Holdings, Fontinalis Partners, Airbus Ventures, Lockheed Martin Ventures, Presidio Ventures and Blackhorn Ventures; CB Insights reports roughly $77M raised, with funding above $50M as of the January 2019 Series A1. It is not public and no ticker exists. Reported headcount was "over 60" (2018) and "nearly 70" (early 2019); current employee count and revenue are not publicly verified.

Products/services. Humatics builds radio-frequency "microlocation" hardware and software — its Spatial Intelligence Platform, comprising RF beacon constellations, mobile sensors and the KinetIQ OS analytics/API suite. Product lines include the KinetIQ 100 (peer-to-peer ranging) and KinetIQ 300 (2D/3D positioning, ~2 cm precision, 500 m range), plus the mm-scale KinetIQ 1000 demonstrated in 2018. Target applications include AGV/mobile-robot navigation, forklift and crane positioning, tool tracking, drone navigation and rail signaling/train positioning. In 2018 Humatics acquired 5D Robotics and its subsidiary Time Domain Corporation, an ultra-wideband (UWB) RF specialist.

Litigation posture. Humatics is an operating company on the receiving end of patent assertion, not an NPE. Metrom Rail, LLC (Lakemoor, Illinois), a UWB rail-safety supplier, sued Humatics along with Siemens Mobility, Thales entities and Piper Networks in the District of Delaware (1:22-cv-00049, filed January 2022), asserting five UWB patents over UWB deployment in MTA New York City Transit. Humatics then joined Siemens Mobility, Ground Transportation Systems USA and Piper Networks as co-petitioner in PTAB inter partes reviews against Metrom Rail (IPR2023-00468 and IPR2023-00470, filed January 13, 2023). The tracked data therefore shows two plaintiff-side PTAB appearances (defensive IPRs) against one district-court defendant appearance. Venue is Delaware, not the Eastern District of Texas.
