Harbor Island Dynamic, LLC

Harbor Island Dynamic, LLC (often shortened to "HID") is a Texas-formed LLC created in January 2023 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Quest Patent Research Corporation (OTC: QPRC), a New York-based intellectual-property monetization firm. HID itself has no independent employees, revenue, or physical operations; parent QPRC is a micro-cap with roughly one paid employee and revenues derived solely from patent-litigation settlements (about $2.8 million in 2024, per its SEC filings).

Products / services. HID is a classic non-practicing entity: it manufactures nothing and sells no products or services. It exists to hold and assert a seven-patent portfolio (the "HID Portfolio") covering semiconductor fabrication and circuit structures, acquired in March 2023 from Tower Semiconductor Ltd. for $3.3 million. The four patents asserted in litigation relate to SOI (silicon-on-insulator) RF/antenna switching circuits, backside metal adhesion via "anchor vias," and CMOS/backside-illuminated image-sensor structures — technology originally developed by Tower's U.S. fab (Newport Fab LLC, d/b/a Jazz Semiconductor).

Patent-litigation posture. HID is an asserting NPE, not an operating company defending suits. It has filed two infringement actions as plaintiff, both in the plaintiff-friendly Eastern District of Texas (Marshall Division): Harbor Island Dynamic v. Samsung Electronics (Feb. 2024) and Harbor Island Dynamic v. NXP Semiconductors (Aug. 2024). Its two "defendant" appearances are parallel PTAB challenges: Samsung's four inter partes review petitions (Sept. 2024) and NXP's IPR (May 2025), the latter joined to Samsung's IPR of the '886 patent.

Notable context. Per QPRC's SEC filings, the PTAB instituted review and, in Feb.–March 2026, issued final written decisions canceling all claims of the four asserted patents; HID reportedly appealed one decision and sought director review of two others. The portfolio was financed through a prepaid forward-purchase agreement with litigation-funding entity QPRC Finance III LLC, with Tower retaining a share of any monetization proceeds. HID is one of several QPRC litigation vehicles (alongside Taasera Licensing, Multimodal Media, Deepwell IP, and others) that file clustered E.D. Tex. suits against large electronics makers.
