CQG, LLC (formerly CQGT, LLC; commonly "CQG," with related operating entity CQG, Inc.) is a financial-technology firm headquartered at 1999 Broadway, Denver, Colorado. It was founded in 1980 by Tim Mather and remained privately held for decades. Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. (NYSE: BR) announced an agreement to acquire CQG's core trading-technology business on February 6, 2026, and completed the acquisition on May 1, 2026; CQG is now a Broadridge subsidiary. Press reports placed the deal at roughly $170 million, though Broadridge said terms were not material and did not publicly break out CQG's standalone revenue or headcount (Broadridge itself employs over 15,000 people).
Operations. CQG is an operating company, not a patent assertion entity. It supplies electronic trading, execution management, and market-connectivity software for futures, options, fixed income, FX, and equities. Core offerings include order routing and execution management, a consolidated market-data feed aggregating roughly 85 sources, advanced technical analysis, server-side order-management tools (spreading, market aggregation, smart orders), risk management, and account administration. It provides Direct Market Access to more than 45 exchanges via co-located Hosted Exchange Gateways and an API/enterprise division, serving FCMs, brokers, commercial hedgers, exchanges, prop trading firms, CTAs, and hedge funds across 60-plus countries. Products named in litigation include the CQG Integrated Client and QTrader.
Litigation posture. In the tracked data CQG appears twice, both times as a plaintiff/petitioner at the PTAB and never as a defendant — consistent with an operating company counter-attacking an NPE rather than an entity asserting its own portfolio. In 2016 CQG (with Interactive Brokers and TradeStation) filed covered-business-method reviews against Chart Trading Development, LLC, which Unified Patents classes as a patent assertion entity. Chart Trading had sued CQG and roughly 30 other trading-technology defendants in the Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division.
Notable cases. CQG, Inc. et al. v. Chart Trading Development, LLC (CBM2016-00046, -00047, -00048; filed March 18, 2016) challenged U.S. Patents 7,890,416, 8,041,626, and 8,060,435, all titled "Systems and Methods for Providing a Trading Interface." The companion Interactive Brokers LLC et al. v. Chart Trading Development (filed February 19, 2016) covered the '190 and '611 patents. All reached final written decisions in September 2017.
