Alcatel USA, Inc. was the U.S. operating arm of France's Alcatel S.A., a publicly traded telecommunications-equipment group. It was created in 1998 when Alcatel closed its acquisition of DSC Communications Corp. of Plano, Texas (reported around $3.3–4.4 billion) and consolidated its American operations under the Alcatel USA name. Trade press at the time put the combined U.S. business at roughly $3 billion in pro-forma revenue and noted DSC added about 7,000 employees; the unit's principal address was 3400 W. Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas. After the 2006 Alcatel–Lucent merger the entity became Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc. (Murray Hill, N.J.), and since Nokia's 2016 acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent it has been an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of publicly traded Nokia Corporation. Current standalone headcount or revenue for the legacy "Alcatel USA, Inc." name is not separately reported.
Operations. Alcatel USA made carrier-class network equipment sold to telecom operators (regional Bell companies, MCI, Sprint and others). Product areas included digital loop carrier and broadband access systems, SONET/SDH and optical transport, central-office switching (the DSC switch line), and wireless/GSM network infrastructure. It was a classic operating vendor, not a licensing vehicle.

Fenner, sued a group of networking vendors including Juniper, Cisco, Nokia, Nortel, Lucent and UTStarcom; Alcatel USA was added by amended complaint on May 17, 2005, along with several Ericsson entities. Fenner asserted U.S. Patent Nos. 5,561,706 and 6,819,670 against the defendants' networking products.
