Luiz Miranda

Luiz Miranda is an associate in Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP's Chicago office, focusing his practice on complex intellectual property disputes. As a registered patent attorney, he represents clients in patent disputes across various forums, including district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), and the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Miranda leverages extensive technical expertise, having worked for thirteen years as a software developer and design engineer for a Fortune 10 software company, gaining experience in big data, parallel computing, databases, cloud services, security, and mobile devices. This background informs his work on cases involving related technologies, such as memory systems and data storage technology.

In his tracked appearances, Miranda has primarily represented the petitioner side in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings. His work includes representing Unified Patents, LLC in IPRs against Radian Memory Systems LLC, challenging patents related to "Symphonic Cooperative Flash Management" technology for solid-state drives and the NVM Express (NVMe) consortium's Zoned Namespace Command Specification (ZNS) standard. While his recent work at Quinn Emanuel has been petitioner-focused, earlier in his career, while at Mayer Brown LLP, he also represented patent owners in PTAB proceedings.
