Lauren Watt

Lauren Watt is a director in Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox's Trial & Appellate Practice Group, specializing in patent litigation across various forums, including federal district courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). Her practice encompasses a diverse array of technologies, including pharmaceuticals (specifically Hatch-Waxman ANDA matters), mechanical devices, electronics, and software.

Ms. Watt primarily focuses on defending clients in patent disputes, as reflected by her appearances in two tracked cases on the defendant side. She served as lead counsel for the defendant in Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. v. Netlist, Inc., a matter involving advanced memory technology. In this context, her firm, Sterne Kessler, notably represented Netlist in an ITC patent infringement case against Samsung, which led to a comprehensive settlement including a significant patent cross-license agreement. Her work for Netlist also involved defending the validity of its patents in IPR proceedings and federal circuit appeals.

Watt also possesses substantial experience in PTAB and IPR proceedings, actively participating in matters before the Board and contributing as an author to "Patent Office Litigation, Second Edition," a definitive treatise on these proceedings. She has co-authored articles discussing trends in PTAB cases, including those involving Standard Essential Patents.
