Kfir B. Levy

Kfir B. Levy is a highly experienced patent litigator with a broad practice encompassing various technology areas, including consumer electronics, telecommunications systems, wireless charging, display technologies (LCD, OLED, plasma), network communications, and memory devices. He has a demonstrated ability to represent both plaintiffs and defendants in complex patent disputes in federal courts, at both trial and appellate levels, and in Section 337 investigations before the International Trade Commission (ITC). His practice also involves advising clients on intellectual property negotiations, portfolio analysis, and pre-suit investigations, often with a focus on monetizing technology investments.

Mr. Levy currently serves as a Partner and Leader of the Washington DC Office Intellectual Property at Mayer Brown. Prior to his current role, his patent litigation career included tenures at Kirkland & Ellis and Banner Witcoff. His case history reflects a strong inclination towards representing plaintiffs, with three tracked appearances on the plaintiff side, including LG Display Co., Ltd. v. Tianma Microelectronics Co., Ltd. et al. and Maxell, Ltd. v. Lenovo Group Ltd. et al., alongside one defendant-side appearance in HBCU Messaging US LP v. Apple Inc..

A notable achievement in his career includes securing a significant $111.7 million jury verdict for Maxell Ltd. against Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. in the Eastern District of Texas. The jury found willful infringement of three Maxell patents related to smart device technologies, such as unlocking devices, locating recordings, and managing digital data. He has also represented Maxell in patent enforcement actions against other major companies like TCL, VIZIO, Hisense, Apple, ZTE, and Huawei. Furthermore, Mr. Levy has experience with Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings, having been involved in inter partes reviews (IPRs) for clients such as Powermat Technologies.

Mr. Levy earned his B.A. from Kenyon College and his J.D., summa cum laude, from the William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he was a Managing Editor of the Nevada Law Journal. He clerked for the Honorable Procter Hug, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and California, and before various U.S. District Courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
