Jon E. Wright

Jon E. Wright is a seasoned patent litigator with a focus on contested proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. His technical expertise spans the electronics industry, including software, hardware, communications, networking, semiconductors, broadband communications, wireless networking, heterogeneous database management, various internet technologies, and computer graphics.

In his tracked litigation appearances, Mr. Wright has primarily represented plaintiffs (5 out of 6 cases). He served as lead counsel for patent assertion entities (PAEs) like Virtamove Corp. and Stingray IP Solutions LLC, with cases against Oracle Corp. and Somfy Activits SA, respectively. The Virtamove v. Oracle cases concluded with dismissals, suggesting confidential settlements. He also acted as lead counsel for Unified Patents in actions challenging patents held by entities such as Evolution Malta Ltd. and AutoConnect Holdings LLC. Notably, he represented a defendant, Qualcomm Incorporated, as lead counsel in Redstone Logics LLC v. Qualcomm Incorporated et al.

Mr. Wright has spent the majority of his career at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox, where he currently serves as General Counsel, overseeing the firm's legal affairs, including litigation and risk management. Prior to this role, he was a director in the firm's Trial & Appellate Practice Group and co-chair of its PTAB Trials and Appellate practices, demonstrating deep experience in post-grant proceedings. He is recognized for his leadership in inter partes review (IPR) practice, particularly when co-pending with district court litigation or ITC investigations, and has contributed to discussions on PTAB procedures.

Admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia, and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Mr. Wright also clerked for the Honorable Alvin A. Schall at the Federal Circuit. He earned his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Vermont and his J.D., with high honors, from the George Mason University School of Law.
