Abstract:
A navigation system provides navigation by determining a location of a mobile device relative to a Radio Frequency (RF) tag, where the RF tag is located at a Point Of Interest (POI). The system obtains the mobile device's location by detecting a wireless signal from the RF tag, which includes the RF tag's identification. A navigation application on the mobile device then displays information about the POI upon detecting this wireless signal. This system and method for user navigation can be used in both indoor and outdoor environments, detecting wireless signals without requiring bi-directional communication, an Internet connection, or cellular communication.
