Founded in January 2011 by Kristo Käärmann and Taavet Hinrikus, the company was initially known as TransferWise before rebranding to Wise in February 2021 to reflect its expanded services. Wise is a publicly traded company on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: WISE) and also has American Depositary Receipts (WIZEY). As of May 2026, Wise PLC has a market capitalization of approximately $12.56 billion USD. The company reported revenue of £1.2 billion for fiscal year 2025 and had approximately 6,500 employees as of March 31, 2025.
