Company profile

Company overview. Meyer Products LLC is a Cleveland, Ohio–based manufacturer of snow- and ice-control equipment, founded in 1926 by Edward B. Meyer in Newburgh, New York, as the Meyer Auto Snow Plow Company. It is a subsidiary and brand of the Switzerland-based Aebi Schmidt Group (Aebi Schmidt Holding AG), which acquired Meyer Products and Swenson Spreader in 2015 from Louis Berkman Work Products. After Aebi Schmidt's merger with The Shyft Group (closing July 2025), the combined group is a Swiss-domiciled, Nasdaq-listed company trading under "AEBI." Meyer itself is private; third-party data aggregators estimate roughly 50–200 employees, which I could not confirm from a company source. Aebi Schmidt Group reported 2024 net sales above €1 billion with about 3,000 employees group-wide.

Products / operations. Meyer designs and manufactures snowplows and material-application spreaders for light- and medium-duty trucks and SUVs, plus related hydraulic/control components and auxiliary light wiring harnesses. It sells through truck-equipment distributors and dealers to homeowners, contractors, and municipal fleets, and licenses Jeep- and Ram-branded plows and spreaders. It is unambiguously an operating manufacturer, not a shell licensor.

Patent-litigation posture. A two-way operating-company litigant, not an NPE. The tracked data show one case as defendant and one as plaintiff, both involving direct competitor Douglas Dynamics. Meyer was sued in the Western District of Wisconsin (December 2014) and responded with its own suit in the Northern District of Ohio (2015) and an inter partes review petition at the PTAB (May 2015). Neither venue is an NPE-style plaintiff-friendly district; both are consistent with competitor-versus-competitor disputes.

Notable cases. Douglas Dynamics, L.L.C. v. Meyer Products LLC (W.D. Wis. 14-cv-886) asserted U.S. Patent 6,928,757 ("Snowplow Mounting Assembly") against Meyer's "Ground Tracking Technology" plows. Meyer countered in Meyer Products LLC v. Douglas Dynamics, L.L.C., which encompasses the PTAB proceeding challenging Douglas's patent. Both parties also petitioned the PTAB against each other's patents (Douglas challenged Meyer's U.S. 6,265,829 "Multiplex Light Harness"). The dispute reflects overlapping IP in snowplow mounting systems and auxiliary lighting harnesses.
