Company profile

IP Co., LLC (d/b/a "Intus IQ," often "IPCO") is a privately held patent-holding company affiliated with SIPCO, LLC. Both entities are linked to inventor T. David Petite, who founded StatSignal Systems in the 1990s and SIPCO around 2003; SIPCO and IPCO were described in litigation filings as Atlanta, Georgia–based research and technology companies (SIPCO later listed an Ashburn, Virginia address). According to RPX and Unified Patents, SIPCO became wholly owned by Glocom, Inc., a Maryland company tied to Korean patent monetization firm Ideahub, Inc.; General Electric and MPEG LA previously took part-ownership stakes in 2012. No public employee or revenue figures are available.

Operations. IPCO does not manufacture or sell products. It is a non-practicing entity that holds and licenses patents in the wireless mesh networking and remote monitoring/control space. Its asserted portfolio (e.g., U.S. Patents 6,044,062; 6,249,516; 8,000,314; and later the 8,233,471 and 8,625,496 patents) covers wireless network gateways, preformatted message protocols, and remote device monitoring across protocols such as ZigBee, Z-Wave, IEEE 802.15.4, and WirelessHART. SIPCO has stated that the related portfolio has been licensed to more than 75 companies and that Landis+Gyr (formerly Siemens Metering) took an exclusive smart-grid license. Unified Patents and RPX both classify the entity as an NPE.

Litigation posture. The tracked data show IPCO as plaintiff in one case and defendant in none — the classic assertion-entity profile. Its single tracked suit is SIPCO, LLC et al. v. Emerson Electric Co. et al. (No. 6:15-cv-907, E.D. Tex., Tyler Division, filed October 16, 2015), assigned to Judge Rodney Gilstrap, a venue with the court's prior claim constructions of the same patent family. IPCO has also asserted the portfolio in other districts (e.g., N.D. Ga. against Elster; E.D. Tex. against Oncor/Datamatic; E.D. Tex. against Crestron).

Context. The Emerson suit followed years of licensing correspondence and a parallel Emerson declaratory-judgment action in the Northern District of Georgia, and asserted ten SIPCO patents plus the '732 patent against Emerson and BP entities. SIPCO/IPCO also asserted mesh-networking patents at the ITC (Inv. No. 337-TA-1131) against Honeywell and others, where the Commission found no violation; Unified Patents filed IPRs against IPCO-owned patents, including the '062 patent.
