ZTE (TX) Inc.

ZTE (TX), Inc. ("ZTE TX") is a Texas-incorporated entity and a wholly owned subsidiary of ZTE Hong Kong Ltd., itself wholly owned by ZTE Corporation. Its parent (SZSE: 000063; HKEX: 0763) is a Shenzhen-based, publicly listed telecom equipment maker founded in 1985, reporting roughly 65,000 employees and about RMB 145 billion in FY2025 revenue. ZTE TX was formed by or around 2013. Court filings describe its places of business as San Diego, California and Morristown, New Jersey, with a former Austin, Texas office closed on August 31, 2018; several complaints list a principal place of business in Plano, Texas.

ZTE TX is not a standalone vendor. In venue declarations it states it conducts research and development for ZTE Corporation and provides technical marketing support for ZTE Corporation products, and that ZTE Corporation is its only customer. The parent's operations span carrier networks (wireless and wireline access, core networks, servers/storage), consumer devices (smartphones, tablets, home terminals) and government/enterprise ICT solutions.

Its patent-litigation posture is that of an operating-company affiliate being sued, not an assertor: 1 tracked case as defendant, 0 as plaintiff. It is consistently named alongside ZTE Corporation and ZTE (USA), Inc., and the accused products are mobile handsets and USB power adapters — i.e., the suits target the parent group's device business, with ZTE TX joined largely as the Texas-resident affiliate.

The tracked matter is Fundamental Innovation Systems International LLC v. ZTE Corporation et al. (N.D. Tex., 3:17-cv-01827), originally filed in the Eastern District of Texas in February 2017 and transferred to the Northern District of Texas in July 2017 following TC Heartland. The plaintiff is a licensing entity asserting USB battery-charging patents developed at Research In Motion/BlackBerry; ZTE filed several inter partes review petitions, one of which was instituted on the '550 patent. Separately, ZTE TX was named in ZTE's 2017 OFAC sanctions settlement with U.S. authorities.
