TCL Smart Device (Viet Nam) Company Limited — referred to in U.S. filings as TCL Smart Device (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. — is a Vietnamese manufacturing subsidiary of China's TCL group, headquartered at 26 VSIP II-A, Vietnam–Singapore Industrial Park II-A, Binh Duong Province (now within Ho Chi Minh City municipality). The entity was incorporated in 2018 and is not itself publicly traded; its parent group includes TCL Technology Group Corp. (SZSE: 000100) and TCL Electronics Holdings Ltd. (SEHK: 1070). Vietnamese company data (EMIS) lists roughly 1,200 employees in 2024.
Operations. The company manufactures display and consumer-audio hardware: the Binh Duong plant is TCL's first self-built overseas factory and one of its largest Southeast Asian production bases, with reported annual capacity of about 8 million TV units and 2024 output of roughly 6 million units (approximately US$1 billion in annual output value, per Xinhua). Reportedly about 90% of output is exported to North America, with the remainder sold in Vietnam; U.S. customs records show shipments to TTE Technology, Inc., TCL's U.S. consumer-electronics arm. TCL also operates two additional plants in Quang Ninh province making TVs, monitors and smart audio products.
Litigation posture. This is an operating company being sued, not an asserter: it has one tracked appearance, as a defendant, and none as plaintiff. The single case is an import case at the U.S. International Trade Commission, not a district-court NPE forum.
Notable case. DivX, LLC v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. et al., ITC Inv. No. 337-TA-1222 ("Certain Video Processing Devices, Components Thereof, and Digital Smart Televisions Containing the Same"), complaint filed September 10, 2020 and instituted October 19, 2020. DivX — a San Diego video-technology and patent-licensing company now part of Vantiva (formerly Technicolor) — asserted U.S. Patents 8,832,297; 10,212,486; 10,412,141; and 10,484,749, alongside parallel district-court suits in the Eastern District of Texas and Delaware. TCL Smart Device (Vietnam) was one of several TCL-group respondents, together with Samsung, LG, MediaTek and Realtek. After the other respondents settled or were terminated, the investigation ended as to TCL via a joint motion to terminate based on a settlement agreement (Order No. 76, April 22, 2022), which the Commission declined to review on May 24, 2022.
