Company profile

LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A., Inc. ("LG MobileComm") is the U.S. mobile-handset sales and marketing arm of South Korea's LG Electronics Inc. It is a California-incorporated wholly owned subsidiary of LG Electronics U.S.A., Inc. (Delaware), which in turn is a subsidiary of LG Electronics, Inc. (KRX: 066570), part of the LG Corp. group. Its principal U.S. address has been listed as 1000 Sylvan Avenue, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, with earlier filings citing 10101 Old Grove Road, San Diego, California. Parent LG Electronics, founded 1958 and headquartered in Seoul, reported FY2024 consolidated revenue of about KRW 87.7 trillion and roughly 34,000–37,000 employees across home appliances/HVAC, TVs and webOS, vehicle components and business solutions. I could not verify a separate employee count, revenue figure, or current corporate status for MobileComm itself.

Operationally, MobileComm handled U.S. sales, distribution, carrier relationships, marketing and warranty support for LG-branded mobile phones and accessories. That business was wound down: LG announced its exit from the global smartphone business on April 5, 2021, and completed the wind-down by July 31, 2021. The entity's operating purpose is therefore effectively historical; any remaining relevance is largely in residual mobile-related intellectual property and legacy litigation.

The tracked litigation data shows one case, in which LG Electronics MobileComm appears as a defendant only (0 plaintiff cases). That pattern — no assertion activity of its own — is consistent with an operating company/subsidiary being sued rather than a non-practicing entity.

The single tracked matter is Delaware Display Group LLC v. LG Electronics et al., No. 1:15-cv-01221 (D. Del., filed December 30, 2015). Plaintiffs Delaware Display Group LLC and Innovative Display Technologies LLC — Acacia Research subsidiaries — asserted three light-emitting panel/LCD patents (U.S. 7,384,177; 7,404,660; 7,434,973) against LG Electronics, LG Electronics U.S.A., LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A., LG Display Co., Ltd. and LG Display America. The patents were subject to LG-filed inter partes reviews; the NPEs had dropped them from an earlier Delaware case and re-filed, expressly agreeing to stays pending IPR. The case has been stayed since May 3, 2016, and per LG Display's Form 20-F the parties stipulated to dismissal and settled in April 2017. Venue was the District of Delaware, not the Eastern District of Texas.
