CQG, Inc. — commonly "CQG" — is a Denver, Colorado–based financial technology provider founded in 1980 by Tim Mather, with headquarters at 1999 Broadway, Suite 1550. It also operates as CQG, LLC (formerly CQGT, LLC) for its core trading business. Ownership changed hands after a senior-management buyout led by CEO Ryan Moroney in the early 2020s; Broadridge Financial Solutions (NYSE: BR) announced an agreement to acquire CQG on February 6, 2026, and closed the transaction on May 1, 2026, making CQG part of Broadridge's trading and connectivity business. PitchBook lists roughly 367 employees; CB Insights and other trackers place it in the 201–500 employee band. Detailed revenue figures are not reliably disclosed.
CQG is an operating company, not a patent-holding shell. It supplies market data, order routing/execution, risk management, and technical-analysis software to futures brokers, commercial hedgers, proprietary traders, exchanges, and liquidity providers. Product lines include the CQG Integrated Client, CQG QTrader, CQG Desktop, CQG One, CQG FX, DOMTrader, spreadsheet and API/enterprise solutions, and a consolidated market-data feed spanning futures, options, FX, fixed income, and equities from roughly 85 sources. It provides direct market access to more than 45 exchanges and serves clients in over 60 countries.
Its litigation posture is that of an operating company defending against an NPE while also petitioning to invalidate the asserted patents. It was the sole defendant named in the tracked district court case, Chart Trading Development, LLC v. CQG, Inc. (E.D. Tex., Tyler Division, filed December 3, 2015, No. 6:15-cv-01133) — the plaintiff-friendly Eastern District of Texas. CQG's five tracked "plaintiff" appearances are all AIA post-grant challenges at the PTAB, filed jointly with Interactive Brokers and others.
Those proceedings include the covered business method reviews CBM2016-00046, -00047, and -00048 (filed March 18, 2016, against U.S. Patents 7,890,416; 8,041,626; and 8,060,435), consolidated with Interactive Brokers' CBM2016-00038 and -00039 (filed February 19, 2016, covering 7,113,190 and 8,380,611). All reached final written decisions in 2017. Unified Patents classifies patent owner Chart Trading Development as an NPE/PAE; filings in the consolidated EDTX cases alleged it was created to insulate its corporate owner from discovery. The patents concern graphical trading interfaces and order entry — CQG's core technology.
