Company profile

ARRIS US Holdings, Inc. is a U.S. subsidiary entity within CommScope Holding Company, Inc. (NASDAQ: COMM), the Hickory, North Carolina–based network-infrastructure provider. The ARRIS business traces to ARRIS Group/ARRIS International plc, founded 1995 and headquartered at 3871 Lakefield Drive, Suwanee, Georgia. CommScope acquired ARRIS International in an all-cash transaction completed April 4, 2019, for roughly $7.4–7.7 billion including assumed debt. ARRIS US Holdings is one of several ARRIS-branded legal entities (alongside ARRIS Solutions, ARRIS Technology, ARRIS Enterprises) that CommScope uses for its U.S. operations and that appear jointly as defendants in litigation. ARRIS does not publish standalone financials; parent CommScope reported a workforce of roughly 30,000 across its global operations in recent 10-K filings.

Products / operations. ARRIS is an operating company, not an NPE. Historically it operated three segments: Customer Premises Equipment (set-tops, cable and DSL modems, residential gateways), Network & Cloud (CMTS/CCAP cable access platforms, PON/OLT optical access gear, video processing and IPTV distribution), and Enterprise Networks (Ruckus Wi-Fi access points, controllers and cloud management). Its customer base has centered on cable, telco and satellite operators, with Comcast and Charter historically its two largest accounts. Under CommScope these lines sit within the Connectivity and Cable Solutions and related segments.

Patent-litigation posture. The tracked data show 0 cases as plaintiff and 1 as defendant — the profile of an operating company being asserted against, not a patent monetizer. It has been targeted repeatedly by licensing entities, including TQ Delta (DSL patents, $11.125M jury royalty upheld on appeal), Bell Northern Research, XR Communications/Vivato, Cobblestone Wireless and Sipco.

Notable case. CommWorks Solutions, LLC v. CommScope Holding Company, Inc. et al., No. 2:23-cv-00510 (E.D. Tex., Judge Rodney Gilstrap, filed Nov. 3, 2023) named ARRIS US Holdings with six affiliated CommScope/ARRIS entities. CommWorks is a non-practicing entity affiliated with IPInvestments Group/Brainbox Innovations whose patents were acquired from Intellectual Ventures; Unified Patents has challenged the portfolio in ex parte reexamination. The suit asserted seven optical-access and Wi-Fi patents against products including CommScope's XP6164S FLX G-PON/XGS-PON OLT and the ARRIS NVG468MQ gateway, and was dismissed with prejudice by joint motion. The E.D. Tex. filing reflects the venue's plaintiff-friendly reputation.
