Tucker N. Terhufen

Tucker N. Terhufen is a patent litigation attorney with a practice focused on defending operating companies in complex intellectual property disputes. His experience primarily spans the electronics, software, mobile technology, and semiconductor device sectors. He exclusively represents defendants, as demonstrated by all three of his tracked appearances defending operating companies against patent infringement allegations.

Currently, Mr. Terhufen serves as Senior Counsel, IP Litigation, at Apple Inc.. Prior to his in-house role, he was of counsel at Fish & Richardson P.C., which he joined as an associate in 2017. During his time at Fish & Richardson, his practice also encompassed patent litigation for clients in the medical devices, life sciences, and chemical industries.

His notable representations include defending Apple Inc. in CardWare Inc. v. Apple Inc., a case involving Near-Field Communication (NFC) payment technology across products such as the iPhone, Apple Watch, and Apple Pay. That case concluded at the district court level with a stipulated transfer of venue, without merits-based termination, damages, or injunctive relief awarded. Mr. Terhufen also represented Apple in Avant Location Technologies LLC v. Apple Inc., concerning patents related to mobile station location monitoring, where Apple's "Find My" feature was accused of infringement. He further defended OmniVision Technologies, Inc. in Greenthread, LLC v. OmniVision Technologies, Inc., a dispute involving semiconductor devices.
