Timothy D. Krieger

Timothy D. Krieger is an experienced patent litigation attorney, currently serving as Of Counsel at Stinson LLP, with a prior affiliation with The Simon Law Firm. As a registered U.S. patent attorney holding degrees in electrical and computer engineering, his practice spans a broad range of technologies. His technical focus includes electrical and electronics, software and computer systems, computer hardware, computer networks, cellular phones, mechanical devices, electrical controls, construction products, and watercraft.

Krieger has demonstrated experience across both sides of patent disputes. While his tracked appearances include three plaintiff-side roles, alongside significant patent infringement settlements highlighted by The Simon Law Firm in areas such as mobile phone technology, videoconferencing, instant messaging, and internet phone technology, he also undertakes defense work. His experience includes representing clients as a defendant (patent owner) in post-grant proceedings.

Notably, he represented Competitive Access Systems, Inc. as the patent owner defending against an IPR initiated by Red Hat, Inc. He was also counsel for Competitive Access Systems Inc. as a defendant (patent owner) in a tracked case. Separately, Competitive Access Systems, Inc. has been a plaintiff in patent infringement litigation concerning 3GPP standards, 4G LTE, and 5G connections in consumer electronic devices, such as Samsung Galaxy Smartphones.
