Thomas Finch

Thomas Finch is a patent litigation attorney with a practice focused on intellectual property disputes across various technological sectors. Currently a Senior Associate at Perilla Knox & Hildebrandt LLP (PKH), he specializes in enforcing patent rights before district courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. His technical background in software engineering, including developing diagnostic software for a major appliance manufacturer, informs his work across technologies such as automotive safety products, consumer products, medical devices, telecommunications equipment, e-commerce technologies, and artificial intelligence.

Finch primarily represents defendants in patent infringement matters, with six of his seven tracked appearances being on the defendant side. His representative defense experience includes acting as counsel for Champion Power Equipment, Inc. in cases such as Generac Power Systems, Inc. et al. v. Champion Power Equipment, Inc., MWE Investments LLC v. Champion Power Equipment Inc., and Harbor Freight Tools USA, Inc. v. Champion Power Equipment, Inc. He has also defended an animal health company against a breach of patent license claim and a different client against a non-practicing entity in a patent infringement suit concerning glass repair technologies. While predominantly a defense counsel, Finch has also represented plaintiffs in disputes involving waste disposal systems, passenger airbag technologies, and medical tissue grafts.

Prior to joining PKH, where he is integral in handling large-scale patent disputes, Finch was a senior associate with Alston & Bird LLP. His experience also includes an externship at NCR Corporation.

Finch earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia and holds a Master of Engineering in Computer Science from the University of South Carolina. He is admitted to the State Bar of Georgia, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Middle District of Georgia, the Eastern District of Texas, and the Supreme Court of Georgia.
