Stuart Eric Pollack

Stuart Eric Pollack is a highly experienced patent litigator and registered patent attorney at Susman Godfrey L.L.P., specializing in high-stakes patent disputes, prosecution, counseling, and opinion work. His practice spans a broad range of technologies, including pharmaceutical products and drug substances, biotechnology inventions, biological drugs, polymers, optics, chemical reactors, and mechanical inventions. He also has experience with industrial chemicals, food additives, and medical devices. His case history includes involvement in Hatch-Waxman Act suits, representing pioneer drug companies.

Pollack predominantly represents plaintiffs in patent litigation, with four of his five tracked appearances being on the plaintiff side, including significant "Lead Counsel" roles. He is currently serving as Lead Counsel for Advanced Integrated Circuit Process LLC in a patent infringement case against Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. However, he also takes on defense roles, as evidenced by his appearance as counsel for Advanced Integrated Circuit Process LLC in a defensive action brought by Unified Patents. Susman Godfrey is recognized for its work for both plaintiffs and respondents in patent and trade secret litigation.

With a distinguished trial record, Pollack has argued over 16 trials in federal court and nine appeals. He is also active in post-grant proceedings, having handled several cases before the Patent Trials and Appeals Board (PTAB) and the International Trade Commission (ITC). Before joining Susman Godfrey, Pollack was a partner at other law firms, including DLA Piper.

Pollack earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1998, where he was a Kent Scholar. He holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry (1991) and an M.S. in Chemistry (1987) from Northwestern University, and a B.A. in Chemistry (1986) from the University of Rochester. He is admitted to the New York Bar, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and several U.S. District Courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
