Séké Godo

Séké Godo is an Associate in the Intellectual Property practice at Mayer Brown, based in Washington D.C.. His practice primarily focuses on helping clients assert their intellectual property rights in patent litigation before U.S. District Courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). He also has experience performing due diligence of patent portfolios for litigation campaigns and is involved in various stages of litigation, including analyzing patent portfolios for assertion, formulating infringement and validity positions, and drafting motions and trial briefs.

Mr. Godo demonstrates a strong preference for representing patent holders in assertion. His tracked appearances indicate a plaintiff-side focus. Notably, he was part of the Mayer Brown team that secured a nearly $112 million jury verdict for Maxell Ltd. against Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in May 2025. This significant victory involved the willful infringement of three Maxell patents related to smart device technologies, including video and photo playback, networking, device unlocking methods, and digital data management.

His technology focus areas are broad, covering smart device technologies, consumer electronics, and software, as evidenced by the Maxell v. Samsung case. His background also includes significant experience in the aerospace industry, having spent over 13 years in the field, including work at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center where he drafted patent applications for various space technologies and contributed to the James Webb Space Telescope. His legal experience also extends to patent prosecution and patent portfolio strategic counseling from a prior role at an IP boutique firm. Furthermore, his services include experience with Trial Proceedings Before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Mr. Godo earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a Notes & Solicitations Staff Editor for the Georgetown Law Technology Review. He holds an M.S. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Physics, magna cum laude, from Lincoln University. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
