Randall G. Garteiser

Randall G. Garteiser is a Partner at Garteiser Honea, PLLC, where he specializes in high-stakes patent litigation, representing clients primarily on the plaintiff side. His practice encompasses diverse technology areas, including financial technology, software, telecommunications, and health monitoring devices, often involving complex systems for data acquisition and processing. Prior to co-founding Garteiser Honea, Mr. Garteiser litigated cases at Quinn Emanuel in its Silicon Valley Office, a firm noted for its plaintiff-side work.

Mr. Garteiser has served as lead counsel in significant patent disputes. Notably, he was lead counsel for DataTreasury Corporation in its litigation against Jack Henry & Associates, Inc., a case involving patents for remote data acquisition and centralized processing of document images and data. This litigation included related proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), where certain claims of DataTreasury's patent were found unpatentable in a Covered Business Method (CBM) review. He has also been involved in cases with favorable outcomes for plaintiffs, securing wins in preliminary claim construction hearings and being part of teams that achieved substantial jury verdicts for the firm. His experience also includes representing plaintiffs in health tech patent disputes, such as Mobile Health Innovative Solutions, LLC v. Apple, Inc..

Mr. Garteiser's legal career is built on a strong technical and academic foundation. He earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering, summa cum laude, from Tulane University in 1995, and graduated with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 2002. He is admitted to practice in California and Texas, and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and several U.S. District Courts.
