Paul Macri

Paul Macri is a patent litigator with Desmarais LLP, focusing his practice on intellectual property and technology-related disputes. His experience encompasses a range of technical areas, including chemicals, biopharmaceuticals, and medical devices, with notable involvement in Hatch-Waxman and BPCIA litigation. Macri has engaged in litigation on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants, demonstrating a balanced approach in his practice, though his tracked cases show a slight emphasis on defendant-side representation.

At Desmarais LLP, Macri's work has included various aspects of litigation, from due diligence and discovery to claim construction, brief writing, trial preparation, and appeals. He was part of the Desmarais team that secured a significant victory for Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Inc. in an ITC investigation (No. 337-TA-1411) against Biofrontera, where the U.S. International Trade Commission found infringement of Sun Pharmaceutical's patents related to photodynamic therapy systems and issued exclusion orders. His practice also includes proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Prior to joining Desmarais LLP, Macri served as an associate at Rothwell, Figg, Ernst, & Manbeck, P.C. in Washington, D.C.. He also gained judicial experience through clerkships with Judge Jennifer L. Hall and Judge Christopher J. Burke, both of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.

Macri earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law in 2022, and a B.S. in Chemistry from Drexel University College of Arts and Science in 2018. He is admitted to practice in New York (2024) and the District of Columbia (2022).
