Navid Cyrus Bayar

Navid Cyrus Bayar is a patent litigation attorney specializing in high-stakes intellectual property and antitrust disputes for technology companies. His practice frequently involves complex patented technologies, with a notable focus on Near-Field Communication (NFC) payment systems and mobile transaction ecosystems. His case experience includes representing clients in matters involving products such as iPhones, Apple Watch, Apple Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Google Wallet.

Bayar maintains a balanced litigation practice, representing both patentees asserting their intellectual property rights and operating companies defending against infringement claims. Of his tracked appearances, he has served as counsel on five plaintiff-side matters and four defendant-side matters. He represents clients across various stages of litigation, from initial case strategy through trial or successful settlement.

Currently, Mr. Bayar is Special Counsel at Jenner & Block's San Francisco office. His tracked patent litigation appearances, including several high-profile matters, occurred during his tenure at Reichman Jorgensen Lehman & Feldberg LLP, an elite national trial firm where he was part of the team that secured a $525 million patent infringement verdict for Kove IO, Inc. against Amazon Web Services, Inc. in April 2024.

His experience includes significant cases such as CardWare Inc. v. Google LLC and CardWare Inc. v. Apple Inc., involving NFC payment technology patents. He has also defended CardWare Inc. in challenges brought by Unified Patents, including an Inter Partes Review (IPR2025-01344) initiated by Google LLC which saw a discretionary denial by the PTAB Director in November 2025, a favorable outcome for the patent owner. Bayar has been noted for helping secure hundreds of millions in jury verdicts and settlements for his clients.

Mr. Bayar earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law in 2017 and his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2012. He is admitted to the State Bar of California, New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
