Michael Wayne Shore

Michael Wayne Shore is a seasoned patent litigator with a practice focused on intellectual property commercialization, licensing, and disputes across various technology sectors. He primarily represents IP owners in enforcing their patents and also defends clients accused of infringement. His experience spans high-tech, electronics, semiconductors, and medical devices, evidenced by notable engagements involving motion-sensing technology and wireless network patents, as well as verdicts against companies like STMicroelectronics and Boston Scientific Corporation.

Currently a partner at The Shore Firm, Mr. Shore's practice encompasses patent, copyright, and trade secret litigation in trial, appellate, and arbitration proceedings. Before forming Shore Chan DePumpo LLP, he led the Intellectual Property Licensing and Litigation Practice Group as a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP. His firm's work involves strategic patent portfolio development and licensing, often for non-profit research institutions, universities, and governmental and private research institutes.

Mr. Shore has demonstrated success in significant patent cases, including securing a $32.5 million patent verdict for Purdue against STMicroelectronics in December 2023 and a $42 million patent verdict against Boston Scientific Corporation in February 2023. He has been involved in the CM HK Limited v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. et al. dispute, acting as Lead Counsel for plaintiff CM HK Limited and Counsel for CM HK Limited as a defendant in related proceedings, which involved patent claims related to motion-sensing technology. His professional biography highlights an undefeated record in jury trials over a 35-year career, with over $250 million in verdicts and judgments in the last three years and over $2 billion recovered for clients overall.

His practice also includes significant experience with Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings and subsequent appeals. Mr. Shore has appeared for clients in appeals from PTAB IPR proceedings at the Federal Circuit and has also petitioned for a writ of certiorari concerning a PTAB decision. He earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law, in 1990, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit, the Fifth Federal Circuit, and numerous federal district courts, as well as all Texas State Courts.
