Michael J. McNamara

Michael J. McNamara is a seasoned patent litigator at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. (Mintz), where his practice primarily focuses on technology and communication networks. He has extensive experience in patent litigation concerning diverse technologies, including cellular and landline telephone systems, fiber optic systems, liquid crystal display technology, Internet and search engine technology, on-demand video content, electrical systems, solid-state devices, optical systems, semiconductor fabrication, computers, and software. McNamara predominantly represents plaintiffs and complainants in patent infringement actions, as evidenced by his tracked appearance and numerous high-profile representations.

His notable case experience includes representing GlobalFoundries at the International Trade Commission (ITC) and in multiple district court actions against technology giants like Apple, Broadcom, Cisco, and nVidia, which settled within months of filing at the ITC. He also successfully represented Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) as a complainant in ITC proceedings involving graphics processing technology, leading to settlements. Further, McNamara acted as plaintiff's counsel in Innovative Foundry Technologies LLC v. Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, a case involving semiconductor manufacturing technology where claims were construed favorably and ultimately settled confidentially. He also represented DivX in enforcing patents before the ITC, resulting in settlements with LG and Samsung.

McNamara's practice extends to Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings. He was involved in IPRs related to his representation of Parus Holdings, Inc. in patent infringement lawsuits, where a legal malpractice suit against him and Mintz arose in connection with Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings.
