Notably, he secured a jury verdict dismissing a $750 million patent infringement suit against Microsoft concerning Windows XP, obtained summary judgment against a $500 million claim for Oracle, and successfully defended Cisco Systems Inc. against a $3 billion infringement claim. He also achieved a $465.4 million recovery for Lexar Media Inc. in a trade secret theft case against Toshiba Corp..
His notable representations also include serving as lead counsel for Applied Materials, Inc. in Applied Materials, Inc. v. Novellus Systems, which resulted in a favorable jury verdict for the plaintiff and an $80 million settlement. Powers has also represented Apple Inc. in patent battles before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).
