M. Scott Fuller

M. Scott Fuller is a seasoned patent litigator with a practice focused predominantly on intellectual property disputes, particularly within the software, communications, and computer architecture sectors. His experience encompasses a wide range of technologies, including multimedia streaming, mobile communication, copy protection, financial data compression, and Bluetooth technologies.

Fuller's recent tracked appearances reflect a strong plaintiff-side emphasis, with 8 recorded plaintiff-side engagements and no defendant-side appearances. He represents patent owners in enforcement actions against infringing companies. However, his extensive career includes significant experience defending Fortune 500 companies such as Microsoft, Huawei, HSBC, and Citigroup against patent infringement claims during his 16 years at Locke Lord LLP, providing him with a comprehensive perspective as trial counsel.

Currently a Partner at Garteiser Honea, an IP litigation boutique, Fuller plays a key role in handling complex, high-stakes patent litigation across the country. Prior to joining Garteiser Honea in 2018, where he became a partner and co-chair of the Texas IP Litigation Practice Group, he was with Locke Lord LLP. His experience also includes an appearance as "of counsel" with Sidley Austin.

Notable engagements include representing Piney Woods Mobility LLC in multiple actions against major telecommunications and technology companies like T-Mobile USA, Inc., Apple Inc., and Verizon Communications, Inc. He was also lead counsel for Xifi Networks R&D, Inc. v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and involved in Adeia Technologies Inc. et al. v. The Walt Disney Company et al. Fuller has secured favorable rulings for clients such as DigitalDoors, Inc., where motions to reconsider were denied for several banks in infringement cases, and for Cellspin Soft, Inc., successfully overcoming Section 101 invalidity arguments concerning patents related to Bluetooth technology. He is also active in Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings, as evidenced by his role as lead counsel for J&H Web Technologies, LLC in an IPR against Microsoft Corporation.

Mr. Fuller earned his law degree with honors from Southern Methodist University Law School and holds an undergraduate engineering degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a former registered professional structural engineer in the State of Texas and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
