Lawrence Rodell Jarvis

Lawrence Rodell Jarvis is a patent litigation attorney at Fish & Richardson, specializing in complex intellectual property disputes for major technology companies. His practice encompasses a broad range of technologies, including consumer electronics, video codecs, electric vehicles, telecommunications, network security, and wireless networks. With a background as a software engineer, Mr. Jarvis brings substantial technical expertise in areas such as video compression, cellular communication, and standard essential patents (SEPs).

Mr. Jarvis demonstrates versatility in his practice, representing both plaintiffs seeking to enforce patents and defendants defending against assertions of patent infringement, particularly in disputes involving SEPs. His experience includes managing all aspects of litigation in U.S. district courts and the International Trade Commission (ITC), from discovery and dispositive motions to claim construction and trial. He also has experience with post-grant proceedings, including Inter Partes Review (IPR).

A notable matter in his experience includes his involvement in Philips RS North America LLC, et al. v. Quectel Wireless Solutions Co. Ltd., et al. before the ITC, where his firm secured an initial determination of no violation, non-infringement, and unenforceability, which was affirmed by the full commission. He is also actively involved as lead counsel in Wilus Institute of Standards and Technology Inc. v. HP Inc. (2:25-cv-00069, E.D. Texas), a patent infringement case filed in January 2025 where he has appeared on behalf of the defendant, HP Inc..

Mr. Jarvis earned his J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in 2015 and holds a B.S. with high honors in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology (2010). He is admitted to practice in Georgia, before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and in several U.S. District Courts, including the Northern District of Georgia, Eastern District of Texas, and Western District of Texas.
