Jordan Rossen

Jordan Rossen is a Senior Patent Counsel at Unified Patents, where he specializes in intellectual property litigation, particularly focusing on challenging the validity of patents asserted by Non-Practicing Entities (NPEs). His practice spans a diverse array of technology areas, including computer hardware and software, data processing, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, material science, energy and geosciences, insurance, banking, vehicle telematics, semiconductors, and plastics.

Rossen's litigation profile strongly favors the petitioner side, with 29 of his 31 tracked appearances originating from his role with Unified Patents, an organization dedicated to deterring patent assertion entities through various strategies, including inter partes reviews (IPRs). His work involves initiating actions to invalidate patents, and he has also represented Unified Patents as a defendant in two tracked cases.

Prior to his in-house role at Unified Patents, Rossen gained extensive experience in intellectual property litigation, having practiced for eleven years in the intellectual property litigation departments of Ropes & Gray and Paul Hastings in Washington, D.C. At Unified Patents, he is instrumental in preparing and litigating post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). His firm, Unified Patents, has maintained a 100% success rate in defending its Real Party-in-Interest (RPI) status across more than 300 PTAB proceedings over the past decade.

His significant PTAB experience includes cases such as Unified Patents, LLC v. Intellectual Ventures II LLC, where all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 9,291,475 were found unpatentable. He has also been involved in ex parte reexaminations resulting in findings of substantial new questions of patentability against patents owned by Intellectual Ventures. Rossen is a recognized voice on PTAB issues, having co-authored alerts on USPTO rule amendments for PTAB trials and participating in webinars discussing the evolving PTAB landscape.

Rossen earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a registered patent attorney with the USPTO (Reg. No. 74,064) and has been recognized in Washington D.C. Super Lawyers Rising Stars.
