Jeremy Taylor

Jeremy Taylor is a patent litigation attorney with Baker Botts, where he serves as the Head of the Intellectual Property Department in the firm's San Francisco and Palo Alto offices, a role he assumed in September 2024. He was instrumental in establishing Baker Botts' San Francisco office in 2016.

Mr. Taylor specializes in complex intellectual property disputes for high-tech clients. His practice encompasses a broad range of technology areas, including telecommunications, consumer electronics, semiconductors, transportation and automotive technologies, software, storage technologies, advertising and media, and mechanical design. While the tracked cases list him as counsel on the plaintiff side, his practice involves both asserting intellectual property against infringers and challenging patents defensively. He notably represented Lyft, Inc. in a patent infringement case brought by a non-practicing entity, where his team's pre-trial strategy led to limiting damages to less than 0.5% of the amount sought by the plaintiff.

His significant case experience includes Lyft, Inc. v. Rideshare Displays, Inc., where he was part of the Baker Botts team that secured a favorable jury verdict for Lyft, significantly limiting patent damages. He also represented Lyft, Inc. in appeals before the Federal Circuit arising from multiple inter partes review (IPR) proceedings involving Rideshare Displays, Inc., where the court affirmed the unpatentability of challenged claims related to rideshare display technology. Mr. Taylor regularly appears in district courts, before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and on appeal at the Federal Circuit.

Mr. Taylor is admitted to the State Bar of California, the District of Columbia Bar, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. He earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2006 and holds a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering & Mathematics, magna cum laude, from Walla Walla University (2000).
