Jasjit S. Vidwan

Jasjit S. Vidwan is an experienced patent litigator with a practice focusing on high-technology matters, including consumer electronics, semiconductors, software, and pharmaceuticals. He leverages two decades of experience as a patent examiner, prosecutor, and litigator to counsel clients on procuring, licensing, and litigating patents. Vidwan is currently a partner at Mayer Brown, having joined the firm from ArentFox Schiff LLP. His career also includes time at Arent Fox, which later merged to become ArentFox Schiff.

In his litigation practice, Vidwan frequently defends operating companies against patent infringement claims, with four of his five tracked appearances being defendant-side. However, his practice also encompasses representing plaintiffs in offensive licensing and litigation campaigns. He has significant experience in various forums, including U.S. District Courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC), the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He was explicitly noted as IPR counsel in the Realtime Data, LLC v. Acronis litigation.

Vidwan has been involved in several prominent cases. He served as Lead Counsel and IPR counsel for Acronis in the six-and-a-half-year patent dispute, Realtime Data, LLC v. Acronis, concerning data compression, encoding, and accelerated storage patents. This litigation concluded with a dismissal of all claims with prejudice, with each party bearing its own costs. He also represented Oura Health Oy in Zepp Inc. et al. v. Oura Health Oy, where ArentFox Schiff secured a complete victory for Oura in a related ITC investigation concerning smart ring technology. Additionally, Vidwan appeared for Ouraring, Inc. as a plaintiff in Ouraring, Inc. v. Ultrahuman Healthcare LLC et al, a case involving smart rings, and for Fossil in Omni Medsci, Inc. v. Fossil et al., which involved wearable devices measuring physiological parameters.

Jasjit Vidwan earned his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in 2013, following Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2005.
