Iman Lordgooei

Iman Lordgooei is a Partner in the San Francisco office of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, where he focuses on intellectual property law, with a particular emphasis on patent and trade secret litigation. His technical background in Electrical Engineering informs his practice, covering diverse technology areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, enterprise software, microprocessor design, semiconductor fabrication, Internet infrastructure, telecommunications, computer networking, signal processing, satellite positioning, and medical devices.

Lordgooei primarily represents defendants, as evidenced by his appearance in five of six tracked cases on the defense side, including notable representations for major technology companies. However, his practice also includes litigation representing plaintiffs, such as STMicroelectronics in an International Trade Commission (ITC) patent dispute. He has extensive experience in federal district courts, before the ITC, and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

He has secured significant victories for clients, including representing Google in its defense against Sonos, where his arguments on prosecution laches led to two Sonos patents being found unenforceable and invalid, overturning a prior $32.5 million jury verdict. He also achieved a complete defense victory for Salesforce at the Federal Circuit, upholding a trial court's ruling that the plaintiff lacked standing. Additionally, Lordgooei represented JUUL Labs in an ITC investigation, winning key claim construction issues that led to a finding of patent violations against Altria and NJOY. His experience also extends to Post-Grant Practice, notably representing Samsung against Huawei in matters concerning 4G cellular technology, where his patent owner preliminary responses led the PTAB to deny institution of Huawei's inter partes review (IPR) petitions.

Mr. Lordgooei earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2007 and holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, summa cum laude, from Drexel University. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2007.
