Dustin Ferzacca

Dustin Ferzacca is a patent litigation attorney at Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders, focusing his practice on high-tech sectors including semiconductors, optics, and emerging green technologies. His work frequently involves the technical aspects of patent disputes, such as validity, infringement, and Domestic Industry determinations. With a background in mechanical engineering, he leverages his technical knowledge to develop strategic litigation approaches tailored to clients' needs.

Ferzacca primarily represents patent owners and complainants. His experience includes successfully representing clients in various forums, including U.S. district courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and the International Trade Commission (ITC).

Notable representations include his role as counsel for Shoals Technologies Group, LLC in a patent infringement action against Voltage, LLC. In that case, the U.S. International Trade Commission affirmed a ruling that Voltage violated Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 by importing infringing LYNX trunk bus products related to solar panel installations, resulting in a limited exclusion order. He has also represented complainants in Section 337 ITC investigations involving semiconductor design and acted as plaintiff's counsel in district court and PTAB proceedings concerning three-dimensional intraoral scanning technology. Ferzacca is also active in post-grant proceedings, having represented patent owners in PTAB proceedings related to LED technology and co-authored publications on PTAB motions to amend.

He earned his J.D. in 2020 from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law and holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, earned in 2017.
