Daniel Yonan

Daniel Yonan is a Director at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox, where he leads the firm's U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) Practice Group. His patent litigation practice is primarily focused on fast-paced Section 337 investigations before the ITC and complex intellectual property disputes in federal district courts. He specializes in high-tech industries, representing innovators in the semiconductor, electrical, and automotive sectors, with cases involving advanced memory technology (DRAM, HBM), vehicle control systems, and electronic nicotine delivery systems. With an undergraduate background as a new-drug research chemist, he also possesses foundational knowledge in pharmaceutical-related technologies.

While his tracked appearances primarily involve defending operating companies, Mr. Yonan's broader practice includes representing both complainants and respondents in ITC Section 337 investigations. Notably, he served as lead ITC counsel for Netlist, Inc. in a patent infringement case against Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., which resulted in a comprehensive settlement, including a five-year patent cross-license agreement and a strategic supply agreement worth up to $898 million in licensing fees for Netlist. He also represented complainant Wirtgen America, Inc. as lead counsel in ITC Investigation 337-TA-1067 concerning road milling machines, securing a violation finding that led to an eight-figure jury verdict for willful infringement in parallel district court litigation.

Mr. Yonan is actively involved in post-grant proceedings, having been recognized as one of the "100 Most Active Attorneys Representing Petitioners – PTAB" (2023) and in "Inter Partes Review" (2022) by Patexia. He has also handled appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

He holds a J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois. Mr. Yonan is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Illinois, as well as the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
