Christopher S. Stewart

Christopher S. Stewart is a principal and trial lawyer at Caldwell Cassady & Curry, where he focuses his practice on high-stakes patent and general commercial litigation. His patent litigation experience spans a diverse array of technologies, including medical devices, mobile payments, semiconductors, secure communications, wireless communications, computer network encryption and decryption software, orthopedic implants, and quantum dot technology.

Throughout his career, Mr. Stewart has primarily represented patent owners and plaintiffs. His tracked appearances reflect a focus on the plaintiff side, and public records show significant successes against large technology companies and manufacturers. Before joining Caldwell Cassady & Curry, Mr. Stewart practiced commercial and patent litigation at Vinson & Elkins, LLP. He was promoted to principal at Caldwell Cassady & Curry in 2019.

Mr. Stewart has played key roles in numerous prominent patent litigation victories. He was instrumental in securing a $445.5 million patent infringement verdict for Collision Communications Inc. against Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. in October 2025. He also contributed significantly to a $105 million patent infringement verdict for VidStream LLC against X Corp./Twitter in 2025. Other notable results include a $150 million settlement for Nanoco Technologies Ltd. against Samsung Electronics Co. in 2023, multiple nine-figure victories for VirnetX, Inc. against Apple Inc.—including a $502.6 million verdict in 2018—and an $8.2 million verdict for Acantha LLP against Johnson & Johnson subsidiary DePuy Synthes in 2018. He also represented ZitoVault in patent infringement lawsuits against IBM and Amazon, leading to a licensing agreement with IBM in 2018.
