Christopher Gerson

Christopher Gerson is a patent litigator with a strong technical background in electrical engineering, focusing on high-stakes disputes involving complex technologies. His practice spans semiconductors, computer hardware and software, telecommunications, wireless/cellular standards, graphical user interfaces, computer security, cloud storage, and artificial intelligence (AI), as well as medical devices and hearing aid technologies. Gerson represents both plaintiffs and defendants, having secured significant jury verdicts for patent owners, including nine-figure awards, and achieving complete defense victories and invalidation of patents for defendants.

Currently a Partner at Gish PLLC, which he joined in June 2025, Gerson's career has also included partnerships at Schulte Roth & Zabel, Kirkland & Ellis, Venable, and Stroock. His notable case experience includes representing Skysong Innovations, LLC as lead counsel in its ongoing patent infringement litigation against Fortinet, Inc., involving AI and cybersecurity technologies, where a Markman hearing has already occurred in May 2026 and a jury trial is scheduled for November 2026. He also appeared pro hac vice for defendant Fortinet, Inc. in a case brought by Netskope, Inc., concerning secure cloud storage technology.

Gerson regularly litigates before district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and the Federal Circuit. He has successfully defended clients in PTAB proceedings, notably representing ContentGuard Holdings, Inc. in four IPRs related to digital rights management, where all validity challenges were rejected and the patents preserved. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from New York University School of Law and holds a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering, cum laude, from Princeton University. He is admitted to practice in New York, the Eastern District of Texas, and before the Federal Circuit.
