Chandrika Vira

Chandrika Vira is a Director in the Trial & Appellate and Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Groups at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox, where she specializes in complex intellectual property litigation. Her practice areas encompass patent, trademark, copyright, and false advertising disputes, with a particular focus on technologies such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals (including Hatch-Waxman and BPCIA cases), medical devices, robotics, electrical equipment, and consumer products. Her background includes a B.A. in molecular biology, which provides a deep understanding of the scientific and technical aspects of her cases.

Ms. Vira primarily represents defendants and challengers in patent litigation. This is consistent with her single tracked appearance on the defendant side and her involvement in significant defense-oriented successes. For instance, she was part of the team that successfully defended Block Inc. in EscapeX IP LLC v. Block Inc., securing a dismissal on subject-matter eligibility grounds in 2023. She also contributed to a Federal Circuit victory for Hopewell Pharma Ventures in 2026, which upheld Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) rulings invalidating patents for a multiple sclerosis drug.
